Designer Rebecca Minkoff knows fashion, and she’s here to help us fashionistas decide what to buy for spring. SELF magazine editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger sat down with the talented designer for a segment of the magazine’s original webisode series, “Five on 5.”
During Fashion Week, Minkoff introduced her new spring collection, which you can view on her website.
“I feel like my collection was very flowy, but not too girly. It’s girly and sexy and I think for fall it’s more tailored, more structured, still sexy but everything’s a little bit closer to the body,” Minkoff said about her collection.
Danziger couldn’t help but rave about Minkoff’s spring collection and her resort collection filled with gorgeous colors and feminine cuts. She asked Minkoff what she recommended as essentials for spring.
Minkoff recommended two articles of clothing from her line. One is called the Becky jacket, which Minkoff claims is a top seller and is available in a rainbow of “fruit flavor colors.” It’s made of a light silk, so it’s not too heavy to wear this season.
Minkoff’s collection also includes an item called the Rumi dress. This dress is fitted at the top like a tank top and flowy at the bottom, the perfect combination of tailored and girly.
Every woman knows that the perfect outfit needs the perfect handbag. Minkoff has us covered there, too. ”Sometimes a bag can wear a woman,” Minkoff mentioned. Minkoff advises that women should take their height into account when picking a handbag. Petite women should pick smaller bags, and taller women can get away with the larger bags. Minkoff’s collection features several great bags, but the ones she mentioned to Danzinger are the Cupid bag, which is a larger size, and the Morning After Clutch which is available in a mini-size.
