C.J. Ellisson is a relatively new writer with a mission to keep her characters unique, unlike the stereotypical characters of other authors in the same genre (paranormal romance/contemporary fantasy).
Ellison says, “I’ve read the [paranormal romance/contemporary fantasy] genre for years, and the most annoying recurring trait throughout the bestsellers is the main characters’ lack of relationship stability and constant bed-hopping. Why can’t the heroine save the world, solve the crime, and journey to unknown lands with a strong man by her side supporting her? That’s what I wanted to read, so I wrote it.”
Ellisson published her first novel “Vampire Vacation” in 2010. This is the first novel in her “Vampire Vacation Inn” series. The series is about Vivian, a 580-year old vampire, who is passionate about only two things…her sexy husband, Rafe, and their resort. Rafe is a human who has been Vivian’s bonded mate for sixty-five years. As a bonded mate, a deeper connection is made that allows the non-vampire to stop aging and share a significant amount of power associated with the bonded vampire. Rafe is also the only one to know Vivian’s true name, Alexandria, or “Dria.”
Vivian owns a resort in the Alaskan wilderness for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions creates the perfect vacation spot, a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true. The first three volumes of the series are full of Vivian’s eclectic antics while Rafe tries to maintain the natural balance of their life.
Everything is going smoothly at the inn until Vivian discovers a corpse locked in one of the guest rooms. Rafe hides the body and convinces Vivian that they’ll easily find the culprit without disturbing their guests. Balancing the demands of their guests while solving a murder mystery becomes too much for the couple. Vivan starts to realize that all of her prodding just may backfire and uncover secrets she’d kill to protect.
The story picks up in the second novel, “The Hunt”, where readers find seven vampires and seven werewolves preparing to hunt a supernatural criminal at the resort. Things quickly begin to spiral out of control as the prey exhibits a cunning, and deadly, instinct for survival.
The sexual and witty interactions between Vivian and Rafe gives readers all of the romance they can handle, along with the snarky, fast-paced interplay of married life on the wild side. The “Vampire Vacation Inn” series focuses not only on the romantic aspects of the relationship, but it pinpoints the challenges of married life while giving its readers insight to the healthy sexual relationship the vampire-human couple have. This series is intended for mature audiences and offers its readers erotic and explicit sex scenes.

“The blood in the room arouses the predator in me, and due to my advanced age, it’s not blood I crave but sex. I remind myself, again, to stop breathing.
If I’m not careful to keep my thoughts tightly bound, Rafe will see the erotic image running through my mind of his bare shoulders between my thighs. I experience an all-over body shiver trying to pull myself together.
He looks up with a small smile on his face. Damn it, he saw.
“You’re a bad girl, you know that?”
“And you love it,” I purr.”

The third novel in the series, “Big Game” will make its debut this spring. “Big Game” promises two fast-paced adventures, one involving the shooting of a werewolf at the Alaskan resort and another as we follow the loving couple through the challenges of tracking exactly who suspects Vivian’s most well-guarded secret.
